Hunger on the set of THE WHALE - Interview with Oscar winner BRENDAN FRASER

BRENDAN FRASER has won the OSCAR for Best Actor at the 2023 ACADEMY AWARDS for his role in THE WHALE by DARREN ARONOWSKY. In the film he plays the role of CHARLIE, a man who has gained a lot of weight after the loss of his partner and because of this he does not leave his apartment. During the online writing classes he teaches, he always leaves the camera off out of shame about his appearance. His only friend LIZ (HONG CHAU) is concerned about CHARLIE’s deteriorating health and forbids missionary THOMAS to visit him so as not to upset CHARLIE unnecessarily. CHARLIE wants to spend his remaining time with his daughter ELLIE (SADIE SINK), whom he hasn’t seen in years.
In an interview with KINO+, BRENDAN FRASER tells us, among other things, that he celebrated his OSCAR win by eating Korean food - no wonder, since he spent the 4 hours he spent in makeup to transform into CHARLIE watching YouTube videos about street food in Korea.
