Enable F8 Legacy Boot Policy: Safe Mode & Startup Repair on Windows

If you remember the older versions of Windows where you could tap the F8 key on your keyboard to get into the Safe Mode options, then you may be interested in knowing how to enable the F8 option in newer versions of Windows such as Windows 11.

This way you can simply tap F8 while your computer is booting up to go to the Safe Mode menu where you can access the various Safe Mode options as well as things like repair your computer, boot logging, low resolution mode, debugging mode and more.

Here are the commands from the video that need to be run from an administrative command prompt.

Enable F8:
bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy

Disable F8:
bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy standard
