Peta Credlin: People’s patience with ‘being ordered around’ is now ‘wearing so thin’

The government keeps telling us Australia is the “COVID envy of the world,” but with other countries now treating COVID-19 like the flu, people’s patience is “wearing very thin,” according to Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“A year ago today, Melbourne entered its 112 day lockdown … twelve months on, what’s clearer now is that while lockdowns may save the lives of the most vulnerable, they cost lives too,” Ms Credlin said.

“Across all ages, but in particular the young … with figures released today that attempted suicide rates among Victorian teenagers have increased by 184 per cent in the past six months.”

The NSW Premier today told people to use “extreme caution” and the state CHO said it was “critical” for everyone to see themselves as “at risk” amid the Greater Sydney lockdown.

According to Ms Credlin, the trouble is that “more and more people just don’t believe it”.

“People can see on their TV screens that other countries have opened up while we keep shutting down,” she said.

“Boris Johnson is right; the government of Singapore is right; Dom Perrottet – the NSW Treasurer – is right.

“We must learn to live with this virus.”
