First published by the Polish Social Democratic Party in 1905 Rosa Luxemburg gave us "Socialism and the Churches". And it's more relevant than ever! Luxemburg was a Polish Marxist theorist, philosopher, economist, anti-war activist, and revolutionary socialist. After multiple arrests for gathering the workers in mass strikes the Church begin to criticize her and the socialists in their sermons. In this document Rosa condemns the Church for exploiting the workers, and reminds Christians of the radical vision of Jesus and the Early Church.
No matter your political or religious leanings we all must allow this document to make us stop and think about what the role of the Church should be in the world.
