Victorian lockdown consequences ‘will be catastrophic’

Anaesthetist Dr Eamonn Mathieson says he, along with many other renowned doctors who have written to the Andrews government, have “strangely” not heard back or been acknowledged despite the first letter having been sent six weeks ago.

“It was six weeks ago when the first initial letter was written on September the 1st and we still haven’t had a reply or even an acknowledgement of the letter,” Dr Mathieson told Sky News.

“I think they are certainly aware that there is a growing number of doctors that are concerned about this and we need to express our grave concerns about what is happening in the community.

“We’re hearing that there has been an experience of massive collateral damage from these lockdowns, particularly in children and adolescents who are experiencing great trauma and mental health issues.

“The consequences will be catastrophic.”
