JSVideo On3 Trainbuffs Layout update July 2021 in 4K

JSVideo 4K. The On3 John Armstrong Memorial Layout of the On3 Trainbuffs in Rikon Switzerland.

Since the last update in 2017 quite some (CORONA forced) time has elapsed and the construction of the layout steadily advanced.

Today all the mainline trackwork has been completed and short of the Gramps loading platform in Charma all stations tracks are in as well. The layout is to 80% scenicid and operational. The ZIMO system is still running smooth and trouble free.

On the rolling stock side a constant upgrade took place. Whilst originally all locomotives were equipped with Soundtraxx Tsunami decoders many have now been replaced by ZIMO sound decoders. This allows more functions to be operated out of 1 decoder eliminating the need for 2 additional function decoders to the Soundtraxx decoders. A wide variety of available sounds has also been an important factor to change.

Last but not least the 1.5 Volt bulbs have been replaced by LED.
