Idstein, Germany is a great day trip from Frankfurt. It is part of the Deutsche Fachwerkstraße, or the German Timber Framed Road. It is located in the Taunus mountain range and is one of the best places close to Frankfurt to see a well preserved altstadt with traditional timber framed houses.

This version takes you on an extended walk through the town of Idstein to see more of all the timber framed houses.

The town also has an interesting history and landmark. One of the first things you will see is the Hexenturm, or witches tower. The town was known for witch trails that occured in the late 1600s.
