Updating an old ax. Draw on metal.

The video shows the process of restoration and alteration of the old ax. Drawing a picture on an ax by electrochemical and acid etching.
During any work, the relevant safety precautions must be observed. Shown in the video is not a role model.
01:30 I cool the metal with water so that the ax does not lose its hardness (hardening).
02:08 I paint an ax with an alkyd aerosol primer. I put three layers of primer.
02:26 I paint an ax with alkyd aerosol white matte paint. On a white background it is more convenient to draw.

03:30 Turning the film over, I print a trace of a pencil on the paint.
04:40 With a pointed metal rod, I clean off the paint in those places where the metal should be etched.
05:30 In five liters (5l.) Of water I add 350-400 grams of edible salt.
06:13 I connect a copper plate - the Cathode ("-"). Anode ("+") - connected to the ax. The electrochemical process of metal etching takes 10-12 minutes.
07:46 I paint over metal sections with nail polish. This will protect them from acid exposure.
08:43 I pour 5% nitric acid into a cropped plastic bottle. Metal etching occurs in nitric acid for 25-30 minutes.
10:47 Using a solvent, remove the nail polish.
11:04 I grind the metal surface using sandpaper from P600 to P2000.
12:34 To blacken the metal, I use a special liquid for cold burnishing of the metal.
12:56 To completely neutralize the acid, I smear the metal with soap and mine in water. Soap is an alkali. Alkali neutralizes acid.
13:41 I lubricate the ax with machine oil and heat it. Moisture evaporates, and oil penetrates the micropores of the metal and protects it from oxidation.
