Trencherfield Mill Engine
A video of the 2,500hp four-cylinder, triple-expansion tandem compound mill engine at Trencherfield Mill in Wigan, Greater Manchester, UK. The engine was built by J&E Wood, Bolton in 1907 and has a high-pressure cylinder of 25 inch diameter, two intermediate pressure cylinders of 40 inches diameter and a low-pressure cylinder of 44 inches diameter. All cylinders have a stroke of 5 feet, driving a 26 feet diameter flywheel at 68rpm.
