Episode #234 - Splitting a Hive - Step by Step

We have several hives that are building fast, so it is time to do a few splits. This video covers splitting a hive step-by-step. Every split is a bit different. There are a few tricks I use to keep the chaos down during the split. The goal is to try to simulate conditions after a swarm so they have less of an urge to swarm. We are in need of a local queen breeder in this area as the company we relied on is out of business. If you continually have them raise their own queens you have lost the genetic diversity which can be dangerous.
