NEW MESSAGE FOR 2019... HAPPY NEW YEAR !

I posted this video in 2008. The recording was done in 15 minutes, and the video was filmed quickly on a cellphone. In spite of it's humble beginnings, it continues to be one of my favorites.

This song has always filled me with a strange mix of joy and sadness. I come back to listen every so often, remember people I've lost, and think about the mystery of the future.

In the years since I originally filmed this - I lost both my parents, saw three friends taken by tragedy and said goodbye to my beloved dogs (who were like family to me). I moved cross country, fell in (and out) of love, made new friends and met my soulmate. I got sober. I drank again... and got sober again.

Life kept happening. Life continues to happen.

Times are joyous. Other times have left me numb. There are days filled with happiness. There have been others when the heartache was so heavy, I didn't want to live. I'd wake up, stare at the wall and want to sleep forever.

But the magic of life is ... it gets better.

We cry, we ache and slowly, if we just stay in the game, life gets amazing again. As I sit here typing this, it's a beautiful day. Although I'm still grieving those who've passed on, I know they're in a wonderful place. There's a smile on my face and I'm grateful.

To all my friends who continue to inspire me... THANK YOU!

To all my loved ones who passed away .. I will never stop loving you.

In spite of our tears, if we're alive today, then we have an opportunity to embrace life. What are we waiting for? Let's make 2019 the best year ever. May it be a year of love.
