BOHOL Philippines: First Impressions: BETTER than we thought!

Finally, I returned to the Philippines, exploring places I yet have not visited. We arrived at Bohol and spent there 4 days to see the highlights of this wonderful island in the Philippines. We flew into Cebu city and then took a 2 hours ferry boat ride to Tagbilaran city terminal. Having arrived on Bohol, our Philippines trip finally started! We stayed at Panglao island that is just next to Bohol at the Bohol shores hotel. We rented a van to explore the highlights of Bohol, visiting the touristy sites and hidden gems. We first arrived at the Tarsier sanctuary. At there, you can see the smallest primates of the world, tiny creatures with strikingly huge eyes. The Tarsiers are very sensitive to loud noises, which is why we had to remain very silent. Then, we went to the Loboc river to do a cruise. This was a very touristy attraction but it was really enjoyable and relaxing. We got to witness a wonderful traditional Filipino dance performance, and even myself I got a chance to dance with them! The Loboc river cruise offered us a nice impression on the jungle of Bohol and we were able to enjoy a great buffet of Filipino food! The food was very tasty! After this relaxing Loboc river cruise, we went to get some adrenaline kick by doing the flying fox on the ziplines that crossed over the Loboc river. This was really thrilling and so much fun! After the ziplining, we then went to the probably most hidden gem waterfall one could find in southern Bohol and these were the Sugigi Waterfalls. They were indeed lonely, we were the only ones visiting. The Sugigi waterfalls have a natural water slide. A perfect place to go for a quick swim. Afterwards, we proceeded to the Pangas falls, a much larger waterfall but yet again remaining pretty much a hidden gem on Bohol. We were basically all alone and enjoyed this serene atmosphere in the middle of the jungle. Definitely, bring along your swimming suit in here! The very highlight was for the end of the day, and these were the world-famous chocolate hills! These form one of the most unique and fotographed subjects in the entire Philippines. Although famous in the Philippines, we were not surrounded by many tourists, we more or less had them for ourselves. Standing up on the platform, we were able to oversee Bohol’s chocolate hills and witness a beautiful tropical sunset. So many great attractions in just one day made a perfect first impression of Bohol, Philippines. We were really astonished and honestly, it was not what we thought! It was a lot better!
