Repair a Husqvarna Viking 6440 stuck in reverse Part 1

Like many vintage European sewing machines from the 50's, 60's and 70's, the Viking 6000 series machines suffer from becoming stuck internally if not used on a regular basis. This is due to the lubricant they were built with, creating a varnish as the lubricant breaks down over time. The varnish literally glues the machines together. Fortunately, many of the machines can be "saved" WITHOUT having to tear them apart.

In this video, I demonstrate how to fix a 6440 that is actuating the reverse motion, simply by rotating the stitch width dial into the "1" position. This particular machine only has this problem when the "1" setting is selected. Any other width selection does operate normally.
