WORM or SNAKE??? Texas blind snake

Take a look at these bizarre blind snakes! Although now classified as thread snakes, I'm partial to using the outdated nomenclature as a Texas native. These fossorial wonders snake their way through ant tunnels in search of larvae to eat. Being worm-like reptiles, they are able to feast on the ant’s larvae without even suffering lethal retaliation. Their small size and hard scales protect them from ant bites and stings. They are a super unique and well adapted species! Always a fun find!
