With the EIDL program officially out of funds as of last week, some politicians are looking to bring life back to this popular stimulus item.

Senator John Cornyn announced the Ensuring Increased Disaster Loans (EIDL) for Small Businesses Act, which would pump some much needed funds into EIDL loans and grants.

In fact, this new piece of legislation would make a whopping $180 billion up for grabs for EIDL claimants across the country!

$100 billion would go towards EIDL loans, while $80 billion would fund EIDL Advances, or those free grants that you don’t have to pay back.

But the best part of this bill? It would provide all EIDL claimants with the full $10,000 that was talked about in the initial CARES Act proposal!

This means that you could receive an EIDL Advance of $10,000, even if you are the only employee.

While this bill hasn’t been passed yet, I think it could help a lot of struggling small businesses across the country with some much needed funds.

Now, we know that the upcoming stimulus package will likely feature extensions or another round of both stimulus checks and enhanced unemployment benefits, but another popular stimulus program is gearing up for Round 2 as well.

That’s right, it looks like the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is going to be receiving another round of funding, but possibly for a smaller group of recipients than the first round.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell recently explained that another round of PPP loans could be coming in the upcoming stimulus package, calling it a “targeted second round.”

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin explained that this second round of PPP loans would likely only go to companies that have seen their revenues fall at least 50%.

In addition to the potential “blanket forgiveness” and $130 billion left in the original CARES Act PPP funds, this second round extension could help the small businesses struggling the most receive additional support during these crazy times.
