Evolution of Forge (2007 - 2020) - History of Halo's Forge mode

The complete history of Halo's Forge mode from Halo 3 to Halo 5. Forge began as a simple object layout editor in Halo 3, allowing players to make small changes to their favourite maps, like Foundry and Sandbox. But it would eventually become a proper map editor, introducing a wide variety of useful primitives, lights and scripts. With Forge empowering players to flex their creativity, it became an essential part of Halo. Fan favourites such as Jenga, Crash-up Derby and Speed Halo would rise to fame among custom games aficionado, providing hundreds of hours of fun in game scenarios that not even Bungie or 343i envisioned.

With Halo Infinite just around the corner, today we take a look at the past 14 years of Forge, from its origins as a map editor for Marathon, to Gearbox's Halo Editing Kit, Bungie's refinement in Halo Reach, and finally 343i's latest iteration in Halo 5. Let me know your favourite Forge in the comments!
