In this video I'm testing out a smart bulb from iLux and this is a multicolor Bluetooth bulb that can be controlled with a smartphone. The iLux bulb is a similar size and shape as a standard A19 light bulb so there’s nothing funky looking about this one.

To connect the bulb to a phone, you’ll need the iLux Mesh app available for iOS and Android. When the bulb is first turned on, it defaults to a warm white color that I found very pleasing to look at. Some bulbs default to a cool white which is really harsh so right away I’m already liking this.

When compared to LIFX bulbs, the iLux smart bulb is not as bright and the app has fewer functions and no Alexa control. But at $17 each as compared to $60 for LIFX you can fill a whole room with these without breaking the bank. Because these are Bluetooth bulbs, there is a range limitation but it’s not an issue for me since I’m usually in the room when using these bulbs.

So if you want to start getting into the smart home trend, the iLux bulbs are a great option because they’re fully controlled through a smartphone and the low price allows you to get multiple bulbs to create cool lighting effects in your room!
