How GOOD Is RENNES 16 Year Old WONDERKID Eduardo Camavinga ACTUALLY?

In today's video, we'll be taking a closer look at Eduardo, documenting his life and career so far, project his future in the world of football and evaluate just how good he actually is at aged 16.
I'm sure by this point we've all seen the viral clips and highlights, when during Sunday's upset win over PSG, the 16-year-old Rennes midfielder was dominant in the middle of the park, playing passes all over the pitch, driving the ball forward and creating chances. PSG's star-studded defense and midfield struggled to cope with the more youngest creativity, conceding multiple fouls and yellow cards in an attempt to stop him. Unfazed by this Camavinga continued to play well beyond his years and even produced a perfectly weighted cross to assist the winning goal of the night, becoming the youngest player to ever be credited assist in Ligue 1 history. All the more impressive when coming against one of French football's most dominant ever sides. Camavinga's 8/10 match ratings were the highest among both teams and were deservingly credited as a man of the match.
But now after seeing him play fans are probably sat wondering who Camvagina is, and wanting to know more about the game's hottest new wonder-kid. Well late 2002, yes November 2002, Eduardo was born in Angola, moving to France at a young age where he began playing football at age 6 with his local AGL side Drapea Forges, by aged 11 he was apart of their youth set up well on the path to making it to the first team. It was that year in 2013 when he made the move to Rennes. Brought in by at the time youth coach now current head coach Julian Stephen, who took note of the kid's potential at a very young age. Before eventually giving him his first-team debut years later.
Throughout Cavaninga's youth career, he gained praise from his own and opposing coaches and peers, for being able to star in multiple different positions. Displaying a unique skillset and versatility that was rare to see in a young player. Possessing such a wide variety of abilities, it was to no one within the club's surprise, to see him sign a put pen to his first professional contract with Rennes at aged 16, becoming the youngest player to do so in club history.
Camavinga continued to make history, making his first-team debut April as a substitute this year against Anger. Towards the end of last season, Eduardo continued to impress when featured in several more cameo's off the bench, which warranted his first professional start against Monaco. Where he was featured for 64 minutes before being subbed out for Hatem Ben Arfa.
With this start, he set yet another record, becoming the first player born after 2002 to start a game in one of Europe's top five leagues,
Fast forward up to speed from 2 weeks ago, where Camavinga started Renne's season opener against historic french side Montepleier, where he showed again winning 63 percents of his duels and misplacing just one his 41 passes.
The youngster follows a list of Rennes academy players who have gone on to some of the biggest clubs in the world. Such as Yan M'villa, Brahimi, Chelsea flop bazooka and most famously Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele. Who they signed for close to 140m euros in 2017.
Based on the success of these players Camavinga's in a good situation for development, with endless options. His performance over PSG has scouts all across Europe attending his games, with Arsenal, Tottenham, Man City all closely monitoring the youngster.
An expected route of career choice would be to follow in Kylian Mbappe's footsteps. Who had a breakthrough season with Monaco, leading them to an unexpected Ligue 1 title and champions league semi-final. Before moving to PSG that next summer for close to 200million euros, where he has enjoyed endless domestic success so far.
Though what also has to be considered, is that joining a giant club at a young age has proved to be counter-productive for so many other young prodigies. Take for example Martin Odegard, who a few years back was the hottest youngster in world football. Joined Real Madrid in 2015, and coming up for 5 years since the transfer has made just 1 first-team appearance.
It's a hard decision for young players to make, not only the leaving life-changing money on the table but also passing on a once and a lifetime opportunity to join a big club. Personally, I feel young players like Camarvinga are better off, in the long run, staying put at the club where they made a name for themselves.
In comparison to the other 16 year old's wonder-kids we've covered, so far Celtic's Karamoko Dembele and Xavi Simons. I'd say Camarvinga so far is the most proven and best so far,
