Ueno Park is located east of Tokyo in Japan. It marks the eastern border of the Ueno district and is undoubtedly the main reason for the arrival of millions of tourists in this part of the city. The park, which was founded on the site of the former Tōeizan Kan'ei-ji Endon-in temple, allegedly belonged to the imperial family before being bequeathed to the city at the beginning of the 20th century and then opened to the public. second half of the 20th century.
It is a very large area, it takes several hours and the walk can be tiring: there are a lot of people in all parts of the park. During our visit, we saw a small village for children with many stands, next to a large crowd around dancers, some dressed in traditional clothes, various demonstrations (jugglers, songs etc.), in short, places are very alive.
Despite the main arteries of the park, its many alleys that go in all directions make it at first difficult enough to find one's bearings. If you plan to visit specific parts of the park (temples, museums etc) a GPS on your phone may prove useful.
