This short work has been composed for 4 violins and soprano on a theme around the note sequence Do Mi Si La Do Ré , which appears as a repeated plucking loop in violin 1, an improvised theme violin 2, sustained or textured accompaniment violin 3, 4 and a soprano improvisation, all around and departing from the sequence. The work is entitled “espoir au dela” which translates to “hope beyond” and is meant to reflect upon the possibility to reach beyond our current life path (plucking sequence violin loop) which may appear unchangeable and move onward toward change (violin voice improvisations). For me, this work demonstrates our resilience to build on what may seem hopeless and uncontrollable; and reach beyond.
