Testing New Computer

While I originally just started it up to test my computer and see if "Can It Play Crysis" settings on the game looked special at all (Not really) I ended up playing through Crysis Remastered's whole campaign. Up until now I had only played through about half of the game, back in 2010-2011. As far as games showing there age, Crysis still looks great, the only real problem is lack of variety in enemy models and clipping on characters clothing as they move. Environmental design is kind of another story, while the lush jungle is pretty, outshining even some modern AAA games, there isn't enough to distinguish each area you go through, feels like traversing the same foliage again and again.

Gameplay, story, and such. I got quite a hollow feeling once I was done, not helped by an absolutely terrible final boss and a sequel hook that only gets followed up in a comic series that is probably hard to read nowadays (The actual game sequel takes an entirely different direction, instead of returning to predator island we go to War of the Worlds New York) . Lot of nothing inbetween sections and base infiltrations that don't expand much as time goes on. Still has some memorable sequences, like the harbor, tank outside of school, and taking out 2 AA cannons in a wide open area. The main problem is the game never properly unfolds, in the way I like, by adding more complexity or creating scenarios that require an engaging new approach to the FPS sandbox. The game contracts as it pushes towards its ending, with 'now it is the 100% aliens all the time', which aren't as engaging as the soldiers. There are only 2 alien types really and they aren't fleshed out that well combat and scenario wise.

I still liked the game however, but it definitely was a developer growing pains new IP.
