7.62 x 54R (Mosin Nagant) Winchester 180 gr Soft Point Ammo Review

Review of the 7.62 x 54R Winchester 180 grain soft point for the Mosin Nagant. The primary purpose for this cartridge is hunting; deer, antelope, wild boar, and similar sized game. The 180 gr soft point in this caliber is also available from Sellier & Bellot, Prvi Partizan (PPU), and Wolf. Their advertised velocities are very similar to Winchester's, therefore test results are likely similar. I do not have any immediate plans to test those options.

Block is the SIM-TEST, calibrated to 10% ordinance gel specs. Video includes review of the cartridge, chronograph velocities of both the M91/59 and M91/30, test shot, and post-shot views of the test block and recovered bullet.
