In this video Daniel and Mick take a look at three valve-driven overdriven pedal/preamps and ask why you may - or may not - want to use one. This is not a comparison of different valve overdrive pedals. Maybe we’ll do that another time, so let us know what pedals you might like to see. That might be part 2. For now, however…
The pedals we’re using today:

Other interesting bits…
• The bonkers EQ on the Tube Driver 10:58
• Discussion about high- and low-headroom amps and how valve pedals interact with each at different compression levels: 13.32
• Mick doesn’t really mean ‘violining’ at 16:30. He just means how super smooth Eric Johnson’s sound is. He does know violining means volume swells, but his brain wasn’t connecting. Sorry about that.
• Comparison with Keeley-modded Boss BD-2 Blues Driver into the Hamstead: 17:20
• Using The Tube Driver with other pedals: 21.28
Mick is playing a PRS DGT model, Dan is playing a Nik Huber Krautster II.
Amps are a Fender Super Reverb with 4x10 Jensen alnico speakers and a Hamstead Artist 20+RT through a 1x12 Celestion Alnico Blue.
As always, all pedal and amp switching and routing is handled by TheGigRig G2.
