How We Choose Our Roosters

It can be tough to decide if you want to have a rooster on your homestead. Once you become attached, it can be even harder to decide which roosters to keep. They can be fighting, aggressive towards people or children, or just beating up the hens. Whatever the reason, when you need to thin the flock a bit, it can be hard to decide who stays, and who goes.

Recently, we had to make the tough decision between Winston, a long time resident of the farm, and Murph, a newcomer on the scene, who showed a lot of promise. In this video, we tell the story of Winston,Henry, and Henry's son, Murph. It may provide some tips for you decide who you should be keeping in your backyard chicken flock.
