➡Summary:
Pressure = Force / Area

🔴An 80-lb roller resting on the body exerts about 80 lb of downward force due to gravity.
🔴A solid roller with someone pressing down hard enough to apply 80 lb of force exerts about the same total downward force.
🔴If the rollers are the same size (compress the same area) and deform the tissue the same way, the compression should be very similar.

➡Additional Points
🔴Let's give credit where it is due... holding tender points and trigger points is far more effective than rolling back and forth. The "roll" in foam roll is a noun, not a verb.
🔴Obviously, heavy rolls are expensive, expensive to ship, cannot be carried by a user, and may have to be placed by another person.
🔴Force applied to multiple sites may not be more beneficial.
🔴Tendons do not develop trigger points.
🔴Without the foot stabilized, pressure on the Achilles tendon will result in plantar flexion rather than tissue deformation or lengthening.
🔴I am not sure what those dynamic rolls on a tendon would do, but my guess is that if we tested them alone, the effects would be minimal.
