Make a Wizards Pendulum Clock

Support Will: http://www.stormthecastle.com/support.htm

This is a tutorial showing you how to make a pendulum clock. We keep it simple and it doesn't keep actual time but it does show phases of the moon as it runs. Fun project that uses foam board. And you learn about how a pendulum clock works and why it makes that tick-tock sound.
With this project you actually make a simple pendulum clock without having to make all those gears. This one uses an escapement and a single gear to progress the phases of the moon.

The template for this project with all the parts is on my website right here:

About escapements and pendulum clocks.
Galileo invented the first pendulum clock in 1642 but didn't build one. Christiian Huygens built the first working pendulum clock in 1656. A wide variety of escapements have been invented and designed. The type we use in this tutorial is called a single pin escapement. It is a very simple configuration and it was invented by Charles MacDowell in 1851.
