Today’s feature was once in line to be the next Kevin Durant. Some even called him a stronger Tracy McGrady l. Two comparisons that wouldn’t last very long after leaving high school as a top 10 prospect. When projecting players 3 things I usually ask myself and notice instantly about a prospect is how does he stack up physically among his peers right now, what skills has he developed to this point that makes him elite at his level, and what strengths does he have now that can translate if he were at the highest level right now. Key word, now. We tend to forget about that looking too far into a prospect’s career, not realizing that missing any of those things gives him the chance to be a bust in the NBA. Perry Jones was elite and garnered a lot of attention at the high school level because physically he was already levels ahead of his peers.
