Braces Explained: Whitening with Braces & Invisalign!

In this video, I brought on my friend and cosmetic dentist, Dr. Yazdan, to talk about whitening teeth while in braces and Invisalign, whether to use whitening toothpastes, charcoal toothpastes, and how to deal with sensitive teeth or tooth sensitivity.

We recommend that if you want to whiten your teeth, wait until after your braces are removed so that you can get the whole tooth whitened because the braces cover up a part of the tooth and that part would not change, leaving you with a white square after your braces were removed !

As a maintenance while in braces, you can use a whitening toothpaste while in braces but it is more advantageous to make sure that your teeth stay healthy while in braces so a high fluoride toothpaste would be better !

If you get sensitive teeth while whitening, it is best to use a high fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash for 2 weeks before whitening to strengthen the tooth and minimize these side effects.

Remember to stay away from foods that stain your teeth such as wine and tea and acidic foods which can cause sensitivity like lemons and oranges.
