Teleferico de Caracas: Meshika in Venezuela
Glimpses of Caracas: On the way up to Mountain El Avila by Cable Car (El Teleferico de Caracas), Sunday, 10 April, 2011. Avila is the most important and emblematic tourist and picnic destination of Caracas, akin to any Hill Station of India. The highest point of Avila is Pico Naiguatá at 2.765 meters above sea level (9.071 feet). The Avila overlooks the capital city of Caracas which is at a height of 950 meters (3115 feet) above sea level. Avila also separates Caracas from the Caribbean Sea. The mountain top can be reached by cable car (Teleferico), by road (4x4 vehicles) and on foot.The El Ávila National Park is also known as 'Warairarepano', an indigenous name for the area. The City of Caracas can be seen in the background as the Cable Car makes its way to the top of El Avila.
