TFC2 | Brendan Loughnane vs Paul Cook

Tankō Fighting Championships 2 saw two outstanding fighters face each other in the cage. The Main Event bout saw lightweight fighters Brendan Loughnane and Paul Cook go head to head for the championship.

Following a spur of smack talk between both fighters, anticipation was high and the atmosphere elated as the headlining fighters entered the cage.

Previous Tankō Fighting Champion, Brendan Loughnane had monument pressure on his shoulders with fans expecting him to take the win once again. Whilst Paul Cook was adamant he was going to walk away as the ultimate champion.

When it came to the fight the crowd was roaring with excitement as they battled it out in the cage. In the first round Cook attempts to close the distance with punches and kicks that Loughnane dodges with expert speed. His fast, sharp and strong high kicks to Cook were slowly turning his legs and body pink.

As the fight progressed, Cook had no way of anticipating Loughnane’s strikes as he continually differed his fighting technique. Changing positions of is kicks, the height of the kicks and his rapid speed at issuing them meant Cook had little time to react.

The fight was completely Loughnane’s as Cook’s relentless blows made no impact, his inability to close the gap between him and his rival kept his strikes at bay.

While Cook made attempts at taking the clinch, Loughnane tactfully broke free showing pure technique and pure class that was thwarting Cook’s fierce blows.

Loughnane’s endless kicks were proving to be tiresome although Cook continued to fight showing the warrior he is but on the night Loughnane owned the fight.

After pinning Cook to the ground, Loughnane was able to repeatedly punch and elbow Cook in the face, chest and head. Loughnane is known for his Ground and Pound technique, one which earned him the win against Eden Newton at the last Tankō Fighting Championship.

For TFC2 Loughnane has shown much more restrain and technique proving that he is a skilled fighter. During the Eden Newton fight, Loughnane’s emotions got the better of him, something which he has stated he was not happy with.

During this fight Loughane showed his sharp, fast and refined moves that enabled him to strike hard and strike fast before Cook even had the chance to retaliate. It was a marvellous display of skills that had the crowd cheering for Loughnane’s victory.

Once Loughnane began his fighting technique Cook had little hope and Loughnane’s final punch had the ref calling it as Loughnane walks away victorious.

As the commentators said: “Lightweight fighters will be looking at him for inspiration as the guy to beat…or the guy to avoid.”
