Frustrating End to 2021- Upholstery Shop Build Ep 06

I hoped by now that I would have news about my new Lucky Needle Shop, but sadly that is not the case. As you know, I had put down a deposit for the new shop and was excitedly clearing land for the shop to be built on. While I was confident in my choice of budling manufacturer and dealer at the time of my deposit, when we began the permitting process, this was no longer the case. Because the companies I went with only supplied generic plans and not site-specific plans, it looked like getting a permit would be very difficult. After being passed off to the building manufacturer, it came to light that not only was I misled, and getting proper permits would be extremely difficult, they also did not have a builder’s license or even a business license, for my area. I tried my best to work through these difficulties, but after 3 weeks of no response from both the dealer, and the manufacturer, I decided to try and get my money back and start all over. After months of work, I am back at square one. It’s safe to say I no longer recommend the companies I went with, and I encourage anyone who is trying to get their own shop built, to not go with one of these large national companies and definitely do not take the salespeople at their word. Instead, I suggest you find a trustable local company that understands your area’s requirements and has experience actually getting buildings both permitted and built in your area. Being back at square one is daunting, but I am hopeful I can find an affordable local contractor that can help us get back on track. We had a great time bringing in the New Year and hope you did too! Hopefully we will have good news on a new shop soon!
