This is what I know of Timefactors! I do not claim the following to be 100% accurate but it is information that I have gleaned upon my own research and time spent on the matter.

Timefactors is a microbrand run by Eddie Platts in the UK. He has chosen a manufacturer to make the watches he sells, and they are done to his exacting specifications. They are high quality and limited in availability. He offers a variety of product lines under different monikers; the particular watch shown in the video is made under the Smiths name. Some watches are reproductions and/or inspired by vintage pieces, it seems that most are designed and/or altered by his own design, and others have been done collaboratively. He is a one-man-show and fulfills all orders himself.

There is a sense of camaraderie in the Timefactors Forum where he communicates directly with the people who buy his watches; filling them in on new ideas, designs, news and updates, and also listening to what his consumers have to say.

To elaborate on what I mentioned above, his watches are, in a sense, limited production. He will place orders to his manufacturer for X amount of Y of his products, and then post them up to his site once they are in. It seems that many makes and models have come and gone over the years, so there is never a guarantee that you can buy a certain model at any given time.

This has led to many models from the past being highly sought after, which only adds to the sense of happiness with the value of his watches; they are competitively priced for the specs included, but the bigger picture only serves to enhance satisfaction as a buyer. Knowing that you made a “smart” purchase no matter what. Even new and current production models trade at a higher price than what he asks for them on his site. But scalping is highly, highly discouraged! He makes watches for those who are into watches, and not for those who look to turn a quick profit.

In regards to ordering a watch, his site is only open to orders on specific dates and times of his choosing (allowing enough time in between ordering windows for him to fulfill orders and, presumably, update his site and everything else it takes to run his business). The way prospective buyers are told when the site will be open is done via email newsletter which you can sign up for on the Timefactors website (link below). But I would also encourage those who are interested in making a purchase to follow his Timefcactors Facebook page and read posts and comments on posts there, as sometimes you can get an early idea of when ordering will open, or what kind of products are coming down the pipeline, as well as checking out the Timefactors forum where fellow enthusiasts share lots of info with each other.
