Benjamin Tal, CIBC's Deputy Chief Economist has some new data about the way more high income jobs have become available in Canada, while lower hourly rate jobs have decreased.

While this might initially sound like a good thing, the harsh reality is that many Canadians rely on low hourly rate jobs to make ends meet. Since the start of the pandemic, it has become increasingly hard to get a job at these hourly rates, as we've seen a 20% decrease in the amount of jobs available.

With CRB ending in March for Canadians who started to apply at the beginning, it has never been more important to make sure there are jobs available when this support ends, or consider how future supports could help close this gap in jobs available for different economic classes in Canada.
