I CUT A HOLE IN THE ROOF! Vinyl Floors & Fantastic Fan // Van Build--Ep. 4
Van Build Series -- Episode 4
In December, I finished the floors in my van by cutting and laying 3/4" plywood over the 1" rigid foam insulation. On top of the plywood, I laid thin vinyl planks I got from Home Depot. Once I finally got the floors finished (such a great feeling!) I went to the other end of the van and cut a hole in the roof to put in the Fantastic Fan Roof Vent. This was the most nerve-wracking part of the van conversion so far, but it went as simply as it could! I used a reciprocating saw to slice between holes I drilled in each corner of the 14"x14" square. Once the hole was made, I used butyl tape, screws, and silicone to adhere and seal the fan. Next up: the ceiling and bed platform!

MY VAN: 2001 Dodge Ram Van 3500 High-Top, converted from a handicap passenger van
MY DISCLAIMER: Most of the labor I did on my van was my first time doing those things, so I am very much not an expert. There are countless ways to convert a van into a livable home, this is just my way. This is a DIY budget van build, so I cut some corners you may not want to cut. Always use proper safety precautions and thorough research.
MY STORY: After backpacking in Europe and Asia for 14 months, I've decided to explore the USA in a converted campervan. In October of 2019, I bought my Dodge Ram 3500 and began converting it into my future home. I'll be living in it with my cat, Cosmo, while traveling the USA and experiencing #vanlife.
MY MUSIC: It all comes from the famous Epidemic Sound which you, too, can use via my handy dandy referral link: https://www.epidemicsound.com/referral/umwsjk/
