Patriots Rumors: New England SIGNING Odell Beckham Jr, Brandon Aiyuk In NFL Free Agency?

New England Patriots rumors are SWIRLING with Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown and NFL free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. both being connected to the Patriots. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and general manager Eliot Wolf received a solid depth piece in the wide receiver room by signing former Green Bay Packer Romeo Doubs in 2026 NFL free agency, but A.J. Brown is still the needle-mover who could push the Patriots into winning Super Bowl 61. Odell Beckham Jr., after putting up a lackluster 2024 campaign with the Miami Dolphins is looking to play in the NFL again, and the Patriots could be a potential suitor. However, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk could be in the mix, especially after Greg Bedard (Boston Sports Journal) suggested Aiyuk might be a better fit in the Patriots wide receiver room than A.J. Brown.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been nothing but drama since the beginning of the 2025 NFL regular season. While Aiyuk has posted multiple 1,000 yard seasons, the wideout has had issues off the field that have not been perceived well by the 49ers organization.

“It's not something to rule out, but it's very unlikely. His production since leaving the Giants has continued to dip and the Patriots' receiving corps, although young, keeps improving as a unit. Behind Doubs, the wide receivers on the roster consist of Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte, DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams, Efton Chism III, John Jiles and Jeremiah Webb.Adding Beckham to the group -- at least from a name recognition standpoint -- would be beneficial. It seems though that the 33-year-old is past his prime, and should the Patriots want to bring in a big name guy who's above 30 years of age, that first phone call should be to Diggs, who they just cut this past offseason after a productive 2025 campaign.”

Greg Bedard on Brandon Aiyuk:
“Why not go after Brandon Aiyuk, whether that's a trade or you wait out for a release instead of A.J. Brown I mean Brandon Aiyuk was a first round draft pick, he was really good before his injury so obviously you need to assess that, but I would be much more interested in trying that before I go for an A.J. Brown”

“I think it’s an interesting debate," Bedard said on Tuesday during Patriots on CLNS. "I think I’ve made my position on A.J. Brown is clear where I see him as a declining player. I’m all in on getting a younger guy that's gonna grow with Drake Maye in this offense.”
