How Journalists Are Learning New Digital Verification Tools

Journalists from across Nigeria and beyond have converged in Abuja for a technical summit focused on improving newsroom fact-checking and verification processes in the face of rising misinformation.

At the summit, the Centre for Media and Society, in collaboration with the European Union and other development partners, introduced reporters and editors to advanced digital tools designed to strengthen accuracy, credibility, and responsible journalism.

The training emphasized the growing importance of fact-checking in modern media practice, especially as misinformation and manipulated content continue to spread rapidly across digital platforms.

Participants explored practical strategies for verifying information, identifying false narratives, and improving editorial standards to maintain public trust in journalism.

The initiative highlights ongoing efforts to support ethical reporting and equip media professionals with the skills needed to navigate the challenges of the digital information age.
