Top of the Baroques: Ed Sheeran, Adele and...Handel?
***
These days, we're spoilt for choice when it comes to what music we want to listen to. Thousands of new songs are released by pop stars every day and we can all sing along and recognise much of this music within the first few seconds of hearing it.
Back in Handel's day, we like to think he was a bit of a celebrity too. He was a huge success in London, and people would come from far and wide to hear his latest releases. Many knew his catchy melodies and basslines - many of which you'll hear tomorrow in our Messiah 360 concert and to this day, we're still familiar with his music.
So what is it about all this music that gets it stuck in our heads? Thomas Allery (our director for tomorrow's concert Fairfield Halls) dissects the similarities between pop and baroque in our latest video
