Salesman uses pepper spray against attacker San Diego

11/30/2016 at approximately 15:45 a caucasian male transient in his mid to late 30's entered a uniform store. Three staff members & two customers all gave statements to the officer taking the report. The suspect smacked the salesman's hand while the salesman had his back to the camera (20 seconds in). The suspect was screaming more than a dozen times how he would kill the salesman & "F" him up. The suspect was likely on some form of drug combined with alcohol. A nearly empty bottle of vodka was found when the officer inventoried the backpack during the arrest. The suspect was intoxicated. This would provide an explanation as to why the pepper spray was not more effective. There is about 5 minutes of footage before this video starts and 15 minutes of footage after this video ends, which all show the suspect acting in an aggressive & hostile nature. Everyone in the store was in fear for their own safety. The girl who never left the phone call was on the phone with the police dispatcher. The customers and staff didn't know what to do because they're not trained for this kind of shopping experience. The suspect was arrested outside of the building, he saw the cop car drive up & surrendered immediately. He was taken to the station where they released him OR right after booking. The manager ran into the suspect at the station when he went in to get a copy of the report. Retail sales people do not need to be in fear for their safety from violent and aggressive homeless people. And they all have the right to defend ourselves. Lastly, the saleswoman who gave the pepper spray was in fact sales person of the year.
