How to Choose Colours and Use a Painter's Wheel
The three things you need to consider each time you select a new colour are:
1) Is the colour I'm picking warmer or cooler than the current colour?
2) Is the colour I'm picking lighter or darker than the current colour?
3) Is the colour I'm picking more or less saturated than the current colour?
So basically it's a game of adjustment. Whenever you put down the colour, analyze it, see if it's right, if not, adjust it through the above process again. This works for traditional and digital painting methods.
