Design and Simulation of Half wave AC to DC Controlled rectifier with RL- Load using MATLAB|SIMULINK

This video demonstrates the design and simulation of Half wave AC to DC Controlled rectifier with RL Load using MATLAB/Simulink. Half-wave AC to DC Controlled rectifier is used for conversion of AC to DC only during the one-half cycle. Half-wave AC to DC Controlled rectifier employs one thyristor. The thyristor is triggered during the positive half cycle. In the negative half cycle, the thyristor does not conduct due to the natural commutation of the supply. However, due to the presence of the inductive load the current continues to flow and thyristor conducts up to the extinction angle β. A 230V AC supply with a firing angle of 30 degrees is considered in this design. The output voltage will appear in the negative direction (Upto β), due to the presence of the inductive load used.
