Lassie - Episode 2 - "Arithmetic" (09/19/1954) - directed by Sheldon Leonard

Jeff fails two arithmetic tests and must attend a make-up test that is accidentally scheduled for the same day Gramps plans to take Jeff and his friend Porky to the circus.

TRIVIA: This early episode was the first of only six Lassie episodes directed by Sheldon Leonard, a former actor who went on to become one of Hollywood's all time greatest directors/producers. He had just moved from acting to directing in the early 1950's, and Lassie was quite possibly one of his earliest directing job ( Leonard is credited with directing "Make Room For Daddy" in 1953). Unfortunately, nowhere is it noted, including in Wikipedia, that Sheldon Leonard directed the 2nd and 3rd episodes of the longest running series in the history of television - Lassie. Chuck Lorre, who created "The Big Bang Theory", named his two main characters - Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter - as an homage to Sheldon Leonard.

NOTE: This recorded episode has been edited to remove commercials and add titles and descriptions. "Lassie" is copyrighted and owned by Classic Media. The first 4 seasons of Lassie were later rebroadcast as "Jeff's Collie". Recorded from COZI TV in 2013 (via over-the-air antenna TV)
