I Built a DIY Cybersecurity Tool Using a Wireless HDMI Transmitter – Inspired by Hak5 Screen Crab!

In this video, I show how I transformed an everyday wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver into a budget-friendly cybersecurity tool for screen capture and pen testing. Inspired by the Hak5 Screen Crab, which was a bit out of my price range, I challenged myself to find a cheaper alternative—and it worked.

For under $100, I created a functional and wireless screen-capturing setup using a wireless HDMI kit paired with an Elgato capture card (though any HDMI capture device should work). I tested the range and performance—and the results surprised me!

This project is for educational and ethical cybersecurity purposes only. It’s a proof of concept for red team testing and responsible experimentation.

Tools Used:
• Wireless HDMI Transmitter/Receiver
• Elgato Capture Card
• Basic household items + creative thinking

If you’re into DIY hacking tools, red teaming, or just want to learn new cybersecurity tricks on a budget—this one’s for you.
