In keeping with their mission to preserve and protect this land to provide a haven of hope for America's wild horses, the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary is private property and CLOSED to the public. (effective January 2020)

Founded in 1988, the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary is home to wild horses that have needed a safe place to live out their lives after being rounded up from government held lands. In addition to providing these majestic creatures with freedom, friends, fresh water and forage, the Sanctuary also preserves thousands of acres of wild lands in the southern Black Hills in South Dakota.
