Alberta Under Watch: Tornado Risk, 5cm Hail & 90 km/h Winds

Environment Canada has issued 108 severe thunderstorm watches across central and east-central Alberta on Friday, June 5, 2026. The highest risk zone (Moderate) is centred over the Edmonton metro area, where conditions are favourable for wind gusts up to 90 km/h, hail up to 5 cm, and a tornado risk this afternoon into the evening.
This video breaks down all active watches by region — from Yellowhead County and Parkland County west of Edmonton, through Red Deer, Camrose, Flagstaff, Beaver, and Vermilion River counties, to the Saskatchewan border near Lloydminster. Fog advisories remain in effect this morning for Drumheller, Hanna, and southeast Alberta.
