Former RAW Chief Raises Concerns Over PM Convoy Reduction! 🇮🇳

Former RAW Secretary Samant Goel has reportedly raised concerns over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to reduce the size of his convoy under the Centre’s fuel-saving and austerity measures. 🚘

According to reports, PM Modi recently directed the Special Protection Group (SPG) to reduce the convoy size by nearly 50% as part of broader fuel conservation efforts amid rising global energy prices and the ongoing West Asia situation. Reports also suggest the Prime Minister encouraged greater use of electric vehicles and called for austerity measures such as public transport use, carpooling and limiting non-essential spending.

Reacting to the move, former RAW chief Samant Goel reportedly argued that this may not be the right time to reduce the Prime Minister’s protection given the current global security environment.

He reportedly cited recent security incidents involving U.S. President Donald Trump despite the U.S. being considered the safest country, arguing that this is not the right time to reduce the Prime Minister’s protection.

Goel also reportedly stated that PM security is based on security assessment rather than status and warned that smaller convoys could make it easier to identify the Prime Minister’s vehicle.

Reports, however, also stated that officials believe the convoy reduction has been carried out without compromising the Prime Minister’s overall security arrangements. ⚡🇮🇳
