My Elevated Square Foot Garden. The boxes and sawhorses for this square foot garden are made from reclaimed lumber fastened together with lots and lots of deck screws. No one was injured in the making of this video. lol
Square foot gardening is a system of laying out, planting and maintaining a productive, attractive garden in any amount of space. The garden is based on a grid of 1-foot by 1-foot squares, with single seeds or plants placed in carefully determined spacing. My planter boxes are 2 feet by 4 feet and sit atop eight little sawhorse made exclusively to support the boxes. The soil contained in the boxes is organic and the elevated position of the boxes will make it easy to maintain and enjoy an all organic vegetable garden in a very limited space.
Ideas for my square foot garden were derived from a book called "Square Foot Gardening" by Mel Bartholomew.
