Learn Spanish Tenses: Actions that started in the past and continue in the present in Spanish!

In this Spanish lesson I will teach you how to express an action that you started in the past, and continue to do in the present. In English, to make this type of sentence you use the present perfect continuous: I have been waiting; He has been speaking, and so on. But to express this same sense in Spanish, you need to know a grammatical formula that consists of the verb “llevar” (to bring, to carry) in present, and a second verb in gerund, “hablando” (talking), “esperando” (waiting), “buscando” (searching), and so on. After watching this lesson, you will know how to say sentences such as: We have been cooking for hours – "Llevo horas cocinando"; We have been waiting for a long time – "Llevo mucho tiempo esperando"; She has been teaching Spanish for 10 years – "Lleva diez años enseñando español"; I have been learning Spanish for months – "Llevo meses aprendiendo español". The grammatical Spanish structure I teach you in this lesson is widely used among native Spanish speakers because it is very practical, easy to use, and comes in handy in many contexts.

Moreover, in this Spanish lesson you will learn so much more than a formula. You will learn what a gerund is, how to make a gerund, and when to use a gerund in Spanish. And gerunds are very important! In short, in English the "ing" that you add to verbs: study (studying), wait (waiting), turn the verbs into gerunds. In Spanish you add the ending “ando” to verbs that end with AR; and add “iendo” to verbs that end with “ER” and “IR”. So, think how important it is that you learn this topic. You will learn how to make this “ing” in Spanish with regular and irregular verbs. You will also learn a lot more because my real-life sentences that I have given you to learn this topic are taken from contexts that are current and real and that that will enhance, improve, strengthen your Spanish vocabulary, and Spanish grammar.
