The Silicone Rubber Extrusion Process Explained

Silicone rubber (or LSR) can be forced through a shaped die to make certain complex-shaped products or components such as cords, tubes, cross-sections, and more. This process is silicone rubber extrusion.

Silicone strips, which can be a variety of colors, are fed into the extruder which delivers the extruded shapes. These shapes are passed through an oven which cures them with radiant heat (makes them hard).
You'll see a video of this process occurring and a step-by-step process in detail.

Extruded silicone rubber is used in everything from sealant solutions through to rubber bumpers, and it has a naturally high heat-resistance, therefore it is often used in applications with extreme temperatures.

I will list the silicone material types that you might encounter ranging from 'general-purpose' through to 'tough silicone,' and I'll also recap some of LSR's key properties which importers really benefit from including its temperature and oil and water resistance.
