Adam Curtis on What is Coming Next

Adam Curtis is one of the best commentators of our time. He has a unique ability to identify larger patterns in smaller, often nearly forgotten episodes of recent history, and his critiques of modern popular culture are pretty solid. I've watched all of his documentaries, and I also seek out his interviews. This bit was something that caught my attention because, as someone who has left a religion behind, I find the lack of a shared poetic worldview to be troubling and potentially unsustainable. To be clear: I'm skeptical of any religion's ability to avoid becoming overbearing and dogmatic, but excited at the idea that shared systems of meaning might still be possible.

The video was taken in the Yucatan at Uxmal, where I found this small structure off of the beaten path, unrestored and overgrown.
