Suspect fired 9 rounds before fatal Las Vegas police shooting, authorities say

A man armed with a shotgun fired nine rounds at traffic and later toward police officers before he was fatally shot near a northeast Las Vegas intersection, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The shooting happened shortly before 12:30 p.m. on June 3 near East Lake Mead Boulevard and North Sloan Lane. It was Metro's sixth officer-involved shooting of 2026 and the third fatal police shooting this year in their jurisdiction.

Police officially identified the suspect on Friday as 43-year-old Sergio Flores.

Metro police said dispatchers received several 911 calls reporting a man firing a shotgun into traffic near the intersection on Wednesday.
